The art of mail {+ a GIVEAWAY}

I'm really excited to be able to introduce one of my best friends today. She is crazy talented - just wait until you see. I feel so lucky that because I fell in love with Tom I got to meet Eleanor (yay for cousins) and now, she is one of my best friends. You know when people just get you? That for me sums up our friendship.

Now that i've spent a paragraph professing my love-imony for this girl, it's about time I let you meet her for yourself {oh and there's an awesome giveaway at the end!!}

I'm Eleanor. I make art and sell it, in various forms, online.

I've been making art for a long time, and for the past decade or more I've been posting my work online at various internet locations to get feed back and critiques from my peers... and then I realised that I was making art just to get their feed back. Silly. A lot of my work was dark and a bit narcissistic and involved a lot of pretentious 'insights' about the world. Hilarious!! (If it wasn't hilarious it would be a tad mortifying so I'll just stick with hilarious)

I decided when I went to university to study Biology rather than Art, because I thought it was more practical... I wouldn't say that I regret that choice, but my current work aspirations certainly don't benefit greatly from my qualifications. I'm not much of a photographer, or musician, or poet, or writer... I like to capture moments in art. Commission work is my favourite, because it is very literally catching moments for people.

The art I make now is the kind that I think is fun. It's bright, and colourful and more accessible to the people who most often surround me ... children. I have two of them and they drive me nuts a lot of the time, but I love them anyway. Together with my husband the four of us live in a small apartment in Sydney and make a lot of mess. (If I'm honest, most of the mess is mine

I've shifted blogs lots of times, and at the moment my bloggy musings live here and my website is the general hub for all my net spaces, instagram, etsy, facebook - all of that.

While I spend a lot of time online (too much) my favourite thing to do is make things with my hands. Paintings, scrapbooks, drawings, models, crochet, sewing... stuff. Which leads me to the main point of me posting here... (segue-way!)
I love getting real mail.I love the tangibility of it - actual paper in your actual mail box.
I have devised a cunning ploy to help you get more mail.

It goes like this:
- You buy a subscription from The ELM Tree (hint: that's me)
- I send you art every month direct to your mail box addressed just for you, packaged just for you, including exclusive prints/paintings/stuff that are not available for sale anywhere else.
