So you might be wondering what happened in Australia this week. Here's a quick wrap up of the week ending 13th January 2013.

* Tropical Cyclone Narelle approaches the cost of western australia. There is no immediate risk but residents have been warned to prepare for dangerous weather.

* A 61 year old man robbed a bank in Subiaco, WA and fled on a motorised scooter.

* Bushfires continue to rage across the country.

* Residents of the Macleay area have been concerned over the colour of the river that has been running brown since Christmas. Rumour is that the local council has granted access to a chinese mining company to mine alongside the river.

* A young girl named Olivia was swimming at Flaherty's Beach on the Yorke Peninsula with her dog Sophie

A 3m-long python snake was found dangling off a Qantas plane's wing on a flight from Cairns to Port Moresby on Thursday.

* Charlie the pug has survived a bushfire with burns to half of his body thanks to work of veterinarians.

A flight headed for Perth, was forced to return to Darwin after a male passenger became angry over the price of a sandwich

* The moniker in Australia for McDonalds, is being adopted by the fast food outlet in the lead up to Australia Day. Signage is being changed to "Macca's" across 13 outlets.
