| *the story behind this photo at the bottom, i promise. |
my darling of a husband bought me a voucher for a facial and massage for my birthday - because he knows i love them but never end up buying them for myself. i think the last time i got one was after my last birthday.
so i was lying there trying to be all zen and relaxed... normally that isn't too hard for me in a day spa. but this place was fairly new and you could hear the traffic noise outside, the beautician was the only staff person there and her boyfriend was sitting in the waiting room on a laptop and they spoke to each other only in Russian.
it was great and she was lovely, just normally you leave a facial all relaxed, refreshed and feeling like your face is looking a bit spesh, you know?. well after being asked if i drink 2L of water a day and wear sunscreen everyday and not being believed when I said I most definitely do, i felt like i was getting into trouble. then when she put my skin under on of those magnifying thingys and told me that my skin is so dry, then covered my face with a masque so i couldn't move my mouth to respond.
then at the very end she says, "all done, here's some water" (obviously because i don't ever drink enough on my own), and (in her strong russian accent) "i recommend products for premature ageing as you have many of the wrinkles here" pointing to my forehead. yeah thanks lady.
when it was all said and done, it was relaxing and my skin felt nice and clean and moisturised but boy was my little ego bruised. i have an expressive forehead ok!
(and i may or may not be hitting the beauty counter today)
* ok so I wanted to take a christmas photo, we tried several attempts in front of the christmas tree...all terrible. so one last ditch attempt was in the mirror.... hence why our christmas card had no picture.
